I Found it in the Woods
(2006)

ensemble flute, viola, and harp
written for the Fitts/Chang/Jackson trio
premièred April 25, 2006, New Haven, CT

I Found it in the Woods describes the progressive weathering of a theme built out of found musical objects (the first two chords, for example, are taken out of a passage in Brahms's A major violin sonata). The piece would ideally be performed outside (though this might require amplification).
