Note
I wanted to write for a large brass group not to commemorate an occasion with quasi-militaristic pomp (why do we do that? a topic for another day) but rather to set some “wild echoes flying”.
Land Lines is written for three brass quintets consisting of two B‑flat trumpets, horn in F, tenor trombone, and tuba (or bass trombone). The piece is intended for a mix of professionals and students or amateur players. The quintets are arranged in order of decreasing demands; Quintet 1 contains the most difficult parts, Quintet 2 moderately difficult, and Quintet 3 the least.
